ZIRO, 21 Feb: A cultural team from St Claret College, Ziro (SCCZ) performed the Apatani traditional ‘Pakhu Ittu’ dance at the Lok Bhavan in Chennai on the occasion of the Statehood Day of Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram on Friday.
The programme was hosted by the South Zone Cultural Centre, under the aegis of the union culture ministry, at the invitation of the North East Zone Cultural Centre.
The event was presided over by Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi and witnessed the presence of student leaders from Arunachal and Mizoram currently pursuing their studies in Chennai.
The audience were given a glimpse of the rich cultural heritage of Arunachal through the traditional performance by the students in their colourful Apatani attire and props.
The celebration also featured cultural performances from Mizoram, including Pawhloh Tlawh and Sarlamkai, highlighting the diverse cultural tapestry of India’s northeastern region.
