ITANAGAR, Jul 6: Member of Parliament Ninong Ering has sought the intervention of Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyel for early construction of the Pasighat-Nizamghat-Tezu and the Rupai railway lines.
Stating that the construction of the Ruksin-Pasighat portion of the railway line has been halted due to land compensation issue, Ering urged the minister to instruct the authorities of his department to start survey of the sites so that work on the railway line may be started at the earliest.
In a letter to Goyel, Ering said the rate which is being offered for the Ruksin-Pasighat stretch is the same as the one which had been paid to the project-affected people of Murkongselek and Ruksin areas.
“Hence, the people, who are demanding that the same rate should prevail for the lands which are to be acquired for the railway tracks across the areas must be considered and given utmost priority,” Ering wrote.
He said issues like land compensation should not be a hurdle in the implementation of such a project of state and national interest.
