Dear Editor,
Sexual violence crime has become an issue of regular occurrence in various organisations.
Cases of child sexual abuse in educational institutions are also surfacing regularly.
This posses serious concern on safety and security of girl child which have potential to impact physical, social and emotional growth of a child.
The case of sexual abuse surfaced at a school in Namsai involving a minor girl who was allegedly sexually abused by a caretaker in first week of August.
The police investigation is still going on and accused arrested.
However, justice for a minor girl is still far away. This is most horrendous act an authority of institution can do to any child.
We expect cooperation from all stakeholders to ensure free and fair investigation leading to conviction of culprit.
However, this act of protection and shielding of accused would have serious consequences on safety and security of all children.
We cannot allow brazen violation of child’s rights. As a society, we have to be vigilant enough to ensure such institutions is held accountable and protect our child from being abused.
The need of the hour is support of all citizens for a fair trial leading to conviction.
Yours,
Concern citizen
