Committee demands revocation of teachers’ transfer policy

PASIGHAT, Oct 12: School Management Coordination Committee of East Siang has appealed to the state government to revoke the order of massive transfer of primary and secondary school in the district and said that teachers’ transfer in mid-term session in the name of rationalization is hampering the teaching-learning process.
The Coordination Committee members recently sat in a meeting at Pasighat and discussed the issue. They observed that as per the state education Act/Rule of 2010 and 2016, the mid-session transfer do not fall under the purview of the Acts. Moreover, indiscriminate transfer of teacher without requisite relievers has resulted in shortage of subject teachers in many schools.
‘We are not opposing rationalization policy framed by state’s education department but the transfer policy has been initiated without assessing ground realities, which cannot be accepted by the students as well as their parents’, said Coordination Committee’s secretary, Mongol Gao.
Meanwhile, the committee has submitted a representation to the state’s Education Minister and higher ups of the education department urging them to revoke the transfer orders.
The committee has further threatened to launch a democratic movement if the authority fails to revoke the order within a week.
