ROING, Oct 29: Yet another case of sexual assault on a minor was reported at the police station here on Sunday.
The 15-year-old victim reported the crime at the PS, accompanied by her father, and claimed that one Amaying Langkam (27) from Bolung village had raped her on her way home.
According to the police report, the minor was returning home late in the evening when a group of boys started harassing her near the Bolung GHSS. The accused, who is acquainted with the victim, was also present there and offered to take her home safely. However, just a few metres before reaching her home, the accused reportedly pulled her into a jungle and raped her there at around 8:30 pm.
PS OC (in-charge) Abraham Taying informed that medical tests have been performed on the victim, cloth samples of both the victim and the accused have been sent for further investigation, and a speedy trial has been requested for.
According to the police, the doctor who examined the victim stated that some bruises and injuries have been found on her body. However, the results of the tests are awaited to confirm the allegation.
The culprit has been arrested and is in police custody. A case has been registered under Section 376 (2) (i) IPC R/W Sec 12 POCSO Act.
