TAWANG, Dec 3: The state Directorate of Research initiated aseminar cum training onawareness and preservation of museum artefacts here at the District Research office in Tawang district.
State Museum Keeper N Ray, Keeper D Dutta and District Research Officer Tsering Yangchin spoke on the purpose and importance of preserving the museum artefacts scientifically through chemical treatment.
Padmashree Ven Thupten Phuntsok called on the need to preserve the artefacts so that “the coming generations know about their past.”
He lamented that the art of pottery and wooden bowl making is dying, and called on the new generation to come forward and learn these dying arts and preserve them.
Tawang DC Sang Phuntsok said he was happy to know that Research department in Tawang is going to open its museum for the public very soon.
“The new museum should be a full-fledged museum as tourists visits Tawang more than any other part of the state,” he said and requested the officials from the Research department to pursue the matter at their directorate level.
The training will be conducted at the Tawang Monastery Museum on 1st, 2nd and 6th December and at the District Research Office here on 3rd and 5th December. (DIPRO)
