NAHARLAGUN, Dec 8: The Si Donyi Games and Sports Meet got underway with Sports Authority of Arunachal (SAA) Chairman Bamang Tago inaugurating the badminton tournament at the festival ground here on Saturday.
Around 80 players are participating in both men’s singles and doubles event. The tournament also includes men’s veteran category (40 years old and above).
The opening match was held between the pairs of Tanu Leriak-Rokpo Dabu and Tater Mosi-Dr Mari. The match was won by the duo of Leriak and Rokpo.
Volleyball and cricket tournaments and a marathon race will also be conducted.
Earlier, Tago urged the players to play the game with sportsman’s spirit. He also highlighted the benefits of playing sports.
RGU’s Physical Education Head Dr Anil Mili and ASBA joint secretary Penya Bagra also attended the inaugural function.
