Through your esteemed daily, I would like to express my views on the ruckus created by a section of candidates in the recently held APPSCCE Mains .
1.On the first day of the Mains exam, approximately 900 candidates appeared which was a clear sign that most of the candidates wanted to write the exam. And about 200-300 candidates were not sitting for the exam which means only about 70-80 candidates or may be a little more had gathered in the King Cup School Exam Centre to halt the Mains exam.
2.We see security lapses in the King Cup School Exam Centre. Police personnel should not have let protesters gathered in front of the main gate on the first place. And also after detaining them, Police should not have released them too early that they had reached the APPSC Exam Centre before the commencement of second paper at 1 pm and instigated many more candidates to boycott the exam, caused ruckus thereby creating extremely disturbing atmosphere for Mains Appearing Candidates.
3.Some candidates and politicians are condemning APPSC for releasing a second list of Prelims result. Whereas, fact of the matter is, be it for Prelims or Mains or the final selection result for that matter, release of second list or third list as an addendum post declaration of the result is common in competitive exams conducted by all other States’ PSC, SSC and UPSC.
4.The President of APCC is criticizing APPSC for providing lunch to Mains Appearing Candidates during the exam saying that they have never heard and seen such things before. Yes, it was for the first time that any State’s PSC has resorted to such an out of box idea seeing the highly volatile situation outside the examination centre. For this endeavour, we all should appreciate the APPSC.
5.I request the concerned authorities to take legal or disciplinary actions against the ring leaders of the protesters for misleading and trying to stop the fellow candidates from entering the exam halls, creating ruckus, violating the Fundamental Rights of other candidates and causing physical and mental harassments to both Mains Appearing Candidates and Mains Boycotting Candidates as well as all other people involved in the APPSCCE-2018 so that such untoward incident does not occur again.
Here, I would like to remind APPSC of its previous notification No.PSC-R/09/2016(Vol-I) issued on 9/11/2018 wherein the Commission had cautioned some candidates not to take steps of obstruction and disturbances of peaceful conduct of examination which may entail them actions as per the APPSC Conduct of Examination Rules.
Furthermore, as approximately 650 candidates have appeared in all their Papers in an extraordinary situation, so it is earnestly prayed to the APPSC that generosity be shown in awarding marks so that adequate number of candidates are called for the interview.
Lastly, I suggest the GoAP and the Commission to advertise new notification for the next APPSCCE as soon as possible to provide an immediate relief to those candidates who could not sit in the Mains exam for various reasons. It will also benefit the other unemployed graduates as well as it will give another chance to those Aspirants who are at the verge of upper age limit to appear in this prestigious exam.
