PASIGHAT, Jan 16: Mongol Yomso of the Republican Party of India (Athawale) will be the MP contender from Eastern Arunachal in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
The sitting MP of East Arunachal is Ninong Ering.
This was declared by Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment (SJ&E) Ramdas Athawale, who is also the national party president of the RPI.
Declaring Yomso as the MP contender during a party meeting here in East Siang on Wednesday, Athawale appealed to the people of the Siang belt to support his party “for a better living.”
Yomso is also the state RPI (A) president.
Athawale informed that as of now the RPI (A) has established its party office in almost all the state of Northeast.
“We (RPI-A) are an alliance to the BJP but it does not mean we won’t have our own contenders. We will also contest in the ensuing Assembly elections,” he said.
He also said that “the RPI (A) is not merely a political party but a social party with and ideology of socialism, equality, secularism and followers of Dr BR Ambedkar under whose guidance the party was formed.”
Athawale said that he will soon be informing BJP national president Amit Shah and state government on the declaration of Yomso as the MP candidate from East Arunachal.
Extending gratitude to the RPI (A) national president, Yomso sought the people’s mandate in the Lok Sabha election 2019.
State presidents of RPI (A) from Assam, Nagaland and other party workers were also present on the day.
