ITANAGAR, Oct 18: Former Principal Secretary to Home and Vigilance, Satya Gopal is set to replace current Chief Secretary Shakuntala D Gamlin as Arunachal Pradesh Chief Secretary.
Gopal, who is an AGMUT, 1988 batch, is currently posted as Principal Secretary (Home) in the Government of National Capital Territory Delhi (GNCTD) and had already served in several capacities in Arunachal Pradesh.
Chief Secretary Shakuntala D Gamlin has been appointed as Secretary Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Government of India.
Gopal’s appointment as Chief Secretary of Arunachal Pradesh could serve as a big slap to the Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee(APCC), as it had called 12 hours bandh in the state capital demanding his removal in July last.
The APCC had alleged that Satya Gopal misinformed the Election Commission of India about the surface communication status, which led to the cancellation of the by-election to Pakke-Kessang (ST) Assembly Constituency, scheduled for July 29 last. However, records say that the district administration had said that many villages within the constituency was not reachable due to rains.
