ROING, Mar 21: Senior BJP leader and former minister Roding Pertin and Dambuk mandal BJP president Datik Ratan along with their supporters have resigned from the party in protest against denial of party ticket to Tony Pertin for the upcoming assembly election.
Roding, who was also the party’s state spokesperson, along with Ratan and 88 supporters, has joined the National People’s Party.
According to the party workers, the district and Dambuk mandal BJP executive members, including the shakti kendra, the booth level committee, the gramin kendras and the panna pramukh, had jointly recommended Pertin for the party ticket for the Dambuk seat.
“In spite of our strong recommendation, the BJP high commands have denied him (Pertin) the party ticket, which has left us humiliated and has exposed the party’s corrupt practices,” the just-resigned members said.
According to them, the party ticket has been issued to a person without the recommendation of the district and the grassroots level members of party.
“As per the party’s constitutional law, recommendations of the party’s district and mandal executive members are mandatory for considering issuing the party ticket to the applicant, which is not being maintained in this case,” they said.
Gyurme joins Congress
Meanwhile, former minister Tsering Gyurme and prominent leader from Ziro-Hapoli assembly constituency, Khoda Gyati, have joined the Indian National Congress, according to a release from the Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee.
