Seized cash approaching Rs 1 crore mark

ITANAGAR, Mar 22: The amount of cash seized by the static surveillance teams (SST) and flying squads (FS) is approaching the Rs 1 crore mark with fresh seizure of Rs 12.52 lakhs from different parts of the state in the last two days.
While Rs 10.3 lakhs were seized by the SST and the FS deployed in ‘expenditure sensitive’ Yachuli constituency in Lower Subansiri district, Rs 1.20 lakhs were seized by the FS from Pine Grove area of Ziro-Hapoli, DIPRO said.
In Lower Dibang Valley district, the FS’ and SSTs seized Rs 1 lakh and a large quantity of hooch and Indian made foreign liquor (IMFL), besides arms and ammunition and illicit drugs, from different locations.
The teams seized 125 litres of hooch, eight cases and 16 bottles IMFL, 93 machetes, and a pistol with bullets, informed DIPRO.
It further informed that 749 firearms have been deposited so far in the district.
In Dibang Valley district, the FS caught five persons in headquarters Anini for violation of various sections of the MV Act. Four of them did not possess driving licences and RC books, and one was without a driving licence.
The vehicles included two LMVs and three two-wheelers, informed EAC Toni Metkong.
As per the record maintained by this daily, the total amount of cash seized since the enforcement of the election model code of conduct in the state has risen to Rs 81.32 lakhs so far.
