ROING, Mar 23: The NHPC’s Dibang multipurpose project (DMP) under its CSR scheme has teamed up with the Lower Dibang Valley (LDV) district sports department to start a karate coaching camp for both boys and girls here on Saturday, in order to promote games and sports throughout the district.
Thirty karatekas will be given regular training by professional coaches during the camp.
The DMP’s officials also inaugurated a multipurpose gymnasium, and provided weightlifting equipments for it.
Speaking on the occasion, DMP Chief General Manager Biswajit Basu highlighted the benefits of doing physical exercises to stay fit, healthy and mentally sound.
He handed over a cheque for Rs 1 lakh to Everester Muri Linggi to support her comprehensive mountaineering coaching camp. He also distributed karate uniforms (gi/gee), sponsored by the DMP, among the practicing boys and girls.
District Sports Officer Raju Mipi and Everester Linggi hailed the DMP for the initiative taken by it to promote sports in and around the district.
