ITANAGAR, Mar 24: The total amount of cash seized across Arunachal Pradesh since the enforcement of the election model code of conduct jumped to more than Rs 2 crore on Sunday.
As per the latest information received from the office of the state’s chief electoral officer (CEO), the total amount of cash seized across the state by the flying squads (FS), the static surveillance teams (SST), the police and sleuths of the income tax (I-T) department stood at Rs 2,06,28,050 on Sunday morning.
While the FS’, the SSTs and the police have seized Rs 1,49,98,050, the sleuths of the I-T department seized Rs 56,30,000, the CEO office informed.
On Saturday, the teams across the state seized Rs 11,05,000, it said.
It also informed that 54014 bottles of various kinds of liquor, 100 litres of local liquor, 580 CGI sheets, 58 pieces of local ornaments, 60 mobile handsets, six two-wheelers, a car, and 12 voter identity cards have been seized so far.
Further, five 12-bore SBBL guns, one .22 rifle, three .32 revolvers, 16 air guns and pistols, large quantities of bullets and pellets for various firearms, over 700 sharp weapons, including daos and knives, and 735 gms of opium have been seized from different parts of the state, the CEO office said.
Notably, 12 voter identity cards were also seized, the report added.
As per the Election Commission of India’s seizure information, a total of Rs 3,77,22,358 were seized in Arunachal Pradesh during the previous elections (2014), besides 69,816 litres of liquors and 125 illegal arms.
Meanwhile, the FS’, the SSTs and the capital police seized Rs 8 lakhs from different places during the last 36 hours, raising the total amount of cash seized within the capital region to Rs 56,59,800, informed Capital SP Tumme Amo.
DIPRO adds: The FS in Dibang Valley district caught five persons for violation of various sections of the MV Act over the past few days.
They were found driving without licence and RC books during checking at the tri-junction (Zero Point) of the Anilye-Dambuen road.
While one person was found riding a motorcycle without a number plate and RC book, the remaining four did not possess RC books and driving licences.
Two two-wheelers were seized, and were later handed over to the police station in Anini.
