ITANAGAR, Aug 30: The eviction drive conducted by the capital administration from Chandranagar to Papu Hapa to pave way for construction of four-lane highway came to an end on Wednesday evening.
The administration started the drive on August 24 last and as per the official deadline it was suppose to be completed on September 9 next. However, the eviction team comprising of EACs Tame Yajum, Hento Karga, Jiken Bomjen and Liken Koyu accomplished the task much ahead of the scheduled date.
Talking to this daily, EAC Itanagar Tame Yajum informed that the eviction team will carry out another round of inspection within the next two days from Chandranagar to Papu Hill to reassess the demolition drive.
She also added that the administration is trying to hand over the land to the Highway Department within the first week of September so that work can start at the earliest.
Further, she thanked denizens of the Capital Complex for wholeheartedly supporting the eviction drive for the greater cause of the state.
The capital administration destroyed several structures falling under the ROW during the drive. Barring few illegal encroachers, it is reported that a majority of building owners extended cooperation to the eviction team.
The administrative team was ably supported by team of officers from the departments of Highway, PHED, Power and personnel from BSNL and other communication sectors.
At least 120 IRBn personnel of cadre course, 60 IRBN personnel from refresher course of Police Training Centre Banderdewa, a platoon of commando force from Chimpu, female police and an eviction force of capital administration were also part of the team.
