BOMDILA, Mar 28: West Kameng DC Karma Leki informed that a mechanism has been put in place to ensure availability of essential commodities in the district during the lockdown period.
Addressing a meeting with government officers and other stakeholders here on Saturday, the DC asked the administrative officers to submit their requirements of rice, “so that necessary arrangements can be made for its immediate placement.”
He advocated the need for promoting online services, “which in turn would facilitate social distancing.”
The DC said the administration will tie up with the GOC of the 5 Mountain Brigade stationed in the district in creating awareness in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
In order to increase the intake capacity of the quarantine facilities, Leki directed the urban development & housing department to expedite the construction of the new building of the general hospital here.
Earlier, the administrative officers apprised the DC of the preparedness in their respective circles to combat Covid-19.
On the reported instances of students on home quarantine sneaking out, and of people not complying with the dos and don’ts during the lockdown, SP Raja Banthia advised the administrative officers to “take coercive measures without exceptions.”
He gave assurance that adequate police personnel would be deployed in the district’s administrative circles.
It was decided during the meeting that, in addition to the already earmarked facilities, private hotels and lodges in the district would be identified and earmarked as isolation wards.
The DMO, the DSO and the medical superintendent presented briefs on the district’s preparedness against Covid-19. They urged the people not to venture out and strictly maintian physical distancing. (DIPRO)
