Need more academic research

Dear Editor,
Through your esteemed daily I would like to draw the attention of scholars, faculty towards the history of North East India. North East India is widely known for its natural resources and strategic location, but it’s importance lost in the hands of mainland historians. North East Region also suffered from British rule like other provinces of the country.
For the growth of historical consciousness or importance, Government of India established Indian Council of Historical Research (ICHR), an autonomous body of ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD). The body, over many years, has provided financial assistance to the historians. However, the role of North East freedom fighters viz, Maniram Dewan, Tirot Singh, Rani Gaidinliu, Matmur Jamoh, Paona Brajabashi, Kuangchera, Umesh Lal Singh did not get sufficient lights so far.
Role played by masses, women folk from the region in national movement is missing from history book.
Educationists, faculty should encourage more academic research in these fields for parallel growth of the country.
Yours,
Opang Padung,
