The construction of first phase of Itanagar-Banderdewa 4 lane road project started on Thursday. In the first phase 10.90 Km stretch of highway from Chandranagar to Papu Nallah will be constructed. The much awaited four lane road project is finally seeing light of day after so many ups and down. The denizens of capital complex have been patiently waiting for this project to start with the hope that it will reduce the traffic problem in capital region. The twin town of Itanagar and Naharlagun has been battling serious traffic problem for the last many years. Many hopes that 4 lane project will help to ease the traffic congestion.
Now that the work has started it is the duty of every citizens of Itanagar to extend support to the construction agencies so that work is completed at the earliest. PWD highway should make sure that work quality is not compromised. There is a need to use the best available modern technologies so that a world class highway is constructed. Considering the fact Itanagar is a landslide prone area, the PWD will have to find out ways to mitigate such problem. On their part the capital administration should provide proper security to the contractor so that there are no disturbances from the anti-social elements.
