India has opened two new immigration check posts along the borders with Myanmar and Bangladesh. Central government has designated Zorinpui land check post in Lawngtlai district and Kawrpuichhuah land check post in Lunglei district under the state of Mizoram as an authorized immigration check post for entry into or exit from India with valid travel documents for all classes of passengers to or from Myanmar and Bangladesh respectively. The opening of new check posts will definitely help to improve the relation between India and its neighbouring countries. Further it will lead to acceleration of local economy in the border state like Mizoram.
Government of India should explore the possibilities of starting trade with Myanmar by opening Pangsau pass route. There is huge potential for trade from the said route. People of eastern Arunachal and parts of Upper Assam will immensely benefit from the starting of trade from Pangsau pass. Also there are multiple places along the Indo-China border which can be developed as trade hub. Keeping aside the border dispute, India and China should try to find ways to start trade from border post like Kibithu in Anjaw district. Both the nation will stand to gain from the starting of border trade. North East region in particularly will witness economic boom and become regional trade hub if government of India starts border trade on large scale with countries like China, Myanmar and Bangladesh. This will lead to faster development of the region.
