CBSE today told Supreme Court that gruesome killing of a minor boy of Gurugram’s Ryan International School took place due to the “negligence” of its administration. Pradyumn, a class II student of the high-profile school, was found dead with his throat slit by a sharp-edged weapon on the morning of September 8. It was alleged that he was killed by 42-year-old bus conductor Ashok Kumar inside the toilet. The CBSE committee found that there were “severe irregularities and security lapses” in the school premises.
The finding of CBSE committee should be properly examined and necessary direction should be issued to schools across the country to address the concern raised by the committee. The Ryan incident also raises concern regarding safety and security of children in the private as well as government schools of the Arunachal. This aspect has never been seriously taken by the parents and school authorities. However there is urgent need to look into the matter. The education and home department should work together to make schools safe and secure for the children. Strict checking should be done to confirm whether school authorities are following all the laid down norms. Over the year Arunachal in particularly capital complex have seen gradual rise in crime incident. Therefore school authorities should not take any chance and ensure fool proof security for the children studying in their respective schools.
