The reported killing of an innocent villager at Longding district allegedly by the cadre of NSCN (IM) has enraged the people of Arunachal. One Wangnon Wangpasam was reportedly shot dead by NSCN-(IM) cadres at Chopnu village under Kanubhari on Tuesday last. The victim protested against the alleged molestation attempt by the cadres on his sister. For years the Naga insurgent group have made life miserable for the people of Tirap, Changlang and Longding where are they are active. Their cadres often torture the local villagers and gun them down for the petty reasons.
The insurgent groups have become the biggest enemy of development. Law and order situation continues to remain tense due to their continued presence. It has directly affected the progress of the three districts. This time the people of Tirap, Changlang and Longding have shown enough courage by strongly raising the voice against criminal act of NSCN cadre. There is genuine anger against such brutality. It is the duty of police to ensure that culprit involved in the heinous crime of killing a innocent villager is nabbed at the earliest and strong punishment be given as per the law. If the NSCN (IM) cadre involved in the alleged killing of Wangnon Wangpasam is not arrested at the earliest it will embolden them. Further it will demoralize the family of late Wangpasam and other NGOs who are fighting for the justice.
