NAMSAI, Oct 27: Deputy Chief Minister, Chowna Mein reviewed the progress of Centrally Sponsored Schemes, Prime Minister’s and Chief Minister’s Flagship Program-mes in Namsai district at the District Secretariat’s Conference Hall here on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, Mein called upon the officers to go an extra mile to implement the CSS and flagship programmes in order to achieve the target of New India by 2022 as envisaged by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi under his New India Movement.
Mein also asked the officers to ensure that the Govt welfare programs percolate down to the intended beneficiaries. He further asked them to set Namsai as an ideal district and be the first to achieve all the objectives as envisaged under these programmes.
Skill Development is an important component of the “Sankalp Se Siddhi Tak”, Mein said and asked the officers to encourage the unemployed educated youths to avail the benefits under various skill development programmes and loan provided by the State Govt on subsidized rates.
Citing drug addictions as a big challenge among the youths, he further asked the Govt officers to involve the youths in positive activities like games and sports and local entrepreneurship. He asked the district administration and police to deal strictly with the poppy cultivation and drug trafficking.
Special Secretary, Education and IPR, Mithali Namchoom who is also the Secretary-Incharge of Namsai District Committee under the IEC Program highlighted various CSS and PM’s & CM’s Flagship Programmes through power point presentation. She informed that information brochures of the central and state govt schemes will also be distributed to all the districts apart from audio-visual IEC Campaign.
Namsai Deputy Commissioner, R K Sharma highlighted the status and achievements of various CSS and Flagships Programmes implemented in the district.
Later, DCM visited the Old DC Office building, the proposed temporary campus for Green Field Science College and the under construction building of Multipurpose Cultural Hall in Namsai. Mein asked the DC to make the Green Field Science College functional from the coming academic session.
