ITANAGAR, Jan 29: Reacting to the report of slow progress of the maintenance work on the Itanagar-Jote road, UD Minister Nabam Rebia has asked the contractor concerned to complete the work on time.
Rebia also said the work should be carried out as per the specification laid down in the agreement signed between the PWD and contractor.
“The contractor must complete the work on time and there should not be any compromise with the terms and conditions. Also, the project should be completed before the onset of the rainy season, so that the commuters do not face problems,” Rebia said.
Meanwhile, PWD Doimukh Division Executive Engineer Nabam Tado informed that the delay has been caused because of some problems that cropped up after the completion of the tender process.
He said that, following a meeting held on Monday, the officials of the department have decided to execute the project on a war footing.
‘T&P and other materials have been collected and are being dispatched to the place of work. We have issued direction to contractor to fast-track the project. The work will resume on 31 January and we will complete the work before April,” said Tado.
He, however, said that the Rs 12 crore sanctioned by the government (as per the DPR), covers only 13 km stretch of the Itanagar-Jote road. He said work on the remaining portion of the 24-km road would be carried out after the state government sanctions the remaining amount.
