PASIGHAT, Feb 2: Local MLA Kaling Moyong on Friday inaugurated a two-day ‘health consultation camp and cancer workshop’ at Bakin Pertin Memorial General Hospital here in East Siang district.
Organised by NGO AAUN Foundation in collaboration with the general hospital, the camp will facilitate needy patients in availing specialized consultative services from a team of doctors from the NEIGRIHMS, Shillong, led by onco-radiology Associate Professor Dr Vikas Jagtap.
More than 400 patients registered for the camp on the first day.
Moyong lauded the philanthropic services rendered by NGOs of the district, and expressed hope that the camp would benefit patients from East Siang, its adjoining districts, and from Assam and other parts of Arunachal.
JDHS Dr D Raina also lauded the initiative, and stressed the need for tertiary health care in the state.
AAUN Foundation vice president Tabung Ering informed that the NGO, formed two years ago, seeks to “give back and contribute as members to the society in various areas.”
This is the second health camp organised by the NGO.
Among the members of the visiting team of specialists are Drs Pranjal Phukan (radiology), M Hussain (neurology), MK Singh (urology), Tony Ete (cardiology), and Ojing Komut (surgery).
Among others, ZPC Kaling Dai, DMO Dr M Perme and Medical Superintendent Dr YR Darrang attended the inaugural session. (DIPRO)
