RUKSIN, Feb 4: The police along with members of the Women against Social Evil (WASE) seized a huge stash of marijuana from Depi village here in East Siang district on Sunday.
Seventeen bags of marijuana worth lakhs of rupees were seized in a search operation carried out by a team comprising police personnel, WASE members, and Sile-Oyan CO Ocean Gao.
Reportedly, the anchal samiti member, the gram panchayat chairperson, and the village secretary were also involved in the case.
Two persons have been arrested so far and a case has been registered against them, the magistrate informed, adding that two women who were also involved were not arrested as the team was not accompanied by women police personnel.
