PASIGHAT, Feb 8: VKV Alumni beat Mirku Star 4-2 through a penalty shootout in a thrilling final in the DFA Veteran Cup tournament at the JNC football ground here on Wednesday.
Conducted by the East Siang District Football Association under the aegis of the Arunachal Pradesh Football Association, the match was tied at 1-1 in the regulated time.
VKV Alumni led the score in the first half through Kani Burang, but Mirku Star’s Tapu Datang equalized it in the second half.
Dr Nicolee Lyngdoh of VKV Alumni was adjudged ‘player of the tournament’, Oyon Panyang received the ‘best goalkeeper’ award, and Tapu Darang of Mirku Star received the ‘highest scorer’ award.
Dr Kaling Jerang, retired group captain Mohonto Pangging, and Bhuneshwar Singh gave away the prizes.
