KHONSA, Feb 16: The Tirap district administration and the police, along with representatives of 15 NGOs, school children, and youths took out a rally against drugs here on Friday.
With the theme, ‘No to drugs, yes to life’, the marchers started the rally from Bank Colony and ended it at the taxi stand in the market.
Deputy Commissioner PN Thungon promised that no one involved in drug trafficking and opium consumption would be spared if found guilty.
Speaking on the effects of drugs, particularly opium, on the society, the DC appealed to the residents to cooperate with the administration in rooting out the drug menace from the district.
He announced Rs 10,000 as reward for those who provide information about drug traffickers.
SP Jitendra Kumar Meena said opium disrupts the society economically and physically, invites unrest, and affects peace and tranquility. He asked the people to cooperate in the movement to bring change in the society.
