The government of India has taken correct decision by deciding to go for fresh tender for Potin-Pangin section of Trans Arunachal Highway (TAH). Following the decision of concessionaire to surrender the said road project it was feared that Potin-Pangin section of TAH will die premature death. The said project is an important part of the Trans Arunachal Highway. It passes through the heart of state and if completed it will make life better for the people of western and central Arunachal. Now that the ministry of road, transport and highway has agreed to float fresh tender for Potin-Pangin section of TAH, the onus lies on government of Arunachal to resolve local issues.
The main reason for inordinate delay in construction of said stretch is compensation issue. The district administrations miserably failed to resolve this pertinent problem. The government needs to take tough stand while acquiring land for construction of TAH. Those structures falling under ROW should not be paid any compensation at all. Also the citizens should act as partner of development and stop creating unnecessary hurdle. If the citizens want good road they will have to extend support to Trans Arunachal Highway project. The government of India seems willing to fund important road projects in the state. It is the duty of every right thinking citizens to support projects like TAH which will immensely benefit the state in the long run.
