ZIRO, Mar 16: The GB Pant National Institute of Himalayan Environment and Sustainable Development (GBPNIHESD), North-East Regional Centre, Itanagar organized
a one-day hands-on training on beekeeping at Mother’s Home Museum, Ziro, on 16 March.
Resource person for the training JP Saikia, Beekeeper at Department of Arts and Handicrafts, Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh demonstrated the entire process of beekeeping as well as the different tools and techniques required for beekeeping.
Dr. SC Arya briefed about the significance of beekeeping and its role in livelihood development of the local people.
Earlier, MS Lodhi, Scientist in-charge at GBPNIHESD, NERC briefed about the aims and objectives of the training programme under in-house project entitled “Enhancing eco-cultural livelihoods in biodiversity rich areas of Arunachal Himalaya”.
The Training programme was attended by local people along with representatives from Biodiversity Management Committee, Ziro, Ngunu Ziro (NGO), Nature Care and Disaster Management Society, Kiwi Growers Cooperative Society, Lower Subansiri Vegetables Grower Cooperative Society, All Nichi Nitii Youth Organization (ANNYO), Bulla Youth Association, Achukuru Welfare Society and Gaon Buris.
