TAWANG, Mar 22: The Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH), New Delhi organized a seminar on export promotion, marketing and design development for comprehensive development of handicrafts of the North East at Tawang recently.
The objective of the seminar was to create awareness among the artisans about export of handicrafts by organizing workshops, seminars and design development programmes to educate and create an environment conducive to the export marketing.
While interacting with the artisans, Regional Director (NER), Development Commissioner (Handicrafts) N L Palai informed the artisans of the various schemes under the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts) and advised them to avail it.
During interaction with the regional director, the artisans expressed their technical difficulties regarding production, availability of raw materials and marketing of products.
EPCH Project Officer Bhaskar Baruah informed the artisans about various marketing events to be organized by the EPCH during 2018-19.
Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, Senior Director, Development Commissioner (Handicrafts) S K Jha, and Assistant Director (Textiles & Handloom), Tawang C Lowang attended the programme.
In total, 80 artisans attended the seminar, which was organized under the North East Region Textiles Promotion Scheme with the support of the office of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Marketing and Service Extension Centre, Naharlagun.
