Exposure tour for state tea farmers held

ITANAGAR, Apr 18: A team of 20 progressive tea farmers from various districts of the state took part in a department of Trade and Commerce sponsored exposure tour to Darjeeling, West Bengal and Namchi, Sikkim from 5-10 April.
Led by Trade & Commerce Deputy Director, Toko Togur, the objective of the tour was to give exposure to the state’s tea farmers so that they could take up tea cultivation in their respective areas in a more feasible way.
The team along with Development Officer, Tea Board of India, Darjeeling, Poorie Sherpa visited Happy Valley Tea Estate at Darjeeling and Temi Tea Garden at Namchi, Sikkim.
The tea farmers also received firsthand information on the process of tea cultivation at the Temi Tea Estate.
