Ray of hope

The conviction of self-styled godman Asaram Bapu has given ray of hope to those who are fighting against the powerful people to seek justice. Despite his clout and influence Asaram was awarded life in prison after a special trial court in Jodhpur found him guilty in the rape case of a minor girl. The incident took place in August 2013 at Asaram’s Jodhpur ashram. He is in jail since 2013 after he was arrested in the case. The victim along with her family member fought all odds to win the battle.
Her courage to expose wrongdoing of a powerful person like Asaram should inspire others who are fighting similar battle. So called godmen like Asaram Bapu and Gurmeet Ram Rahim, who is also facing allegation of rape deserves no mercy and should be strongly punished. These people use religion and spiritualism to fulfill their lust. They took advantage of the situation and raped the innocent victims, most of whom are followers. Also due to their proximity to people in power these godmen yield immense clout and brazenly breaks law. However the conviction of Asaram Bapu shows that truth does finally prevails. He tried his best to silence victim and other witnesses of case using all sort of coercion. The judgment also shows that Indian judiciary is still strong and robust.
