A media conclave

Dear Editor,
I was so happy to witness the leadership of Amar Sangno, president of the Arunachal Pradesh Union of Working Journalists and his general secretary Ranju Dodum, who successfully managed the first ever Conclave of Northeast India Federation of Journalists, which was held on 12th May, 2018 at Itanagar. This conclave has truly inspired young journalists of this state.
Journalism as a profession in this state is still in an unstable stage because many educated youth who picked up the profession have left it after they have gotten better opportunities. On the other hand, I know I have not made any achievement in journalism field except starting the electronic media in Arunachal Pradesh. However, I consider my continuation in this field as my achievement.
Till the recent days, I was always apprehensive that many working journalists of this state may leave this profession as and when they get better opportunity.
But NIFJ conclave meeting convinced me that this state already has a team of young working journalists under the banner of APUWJ who are now shouldering responsibility of media growth in the state. This day was truly one of the happiest days of my life.
I am thankful to SN Sinha, President IJU and Northeast India Federation of Journalists for making this event happen in Itanagar.
It will be another happy day when the Chief Minister of this state bothers to issue a Govt order to provide accommodation to journalists in govt owned Guest House and Circuit House during duty hours as it is done to Govt employees.
Yours,
Taro Chatung,
Senior Journalist
