Order CBI probe

The compensation issue is back to haunt Trans Arunachal Highway (TAH) project. Allegation of corrupt practice in distribution of compensation in Potin-Ziro and Joram -Koloriang stretches of TAH has put serious question mark over the future of both the road projects. Documents collected by RTI shows that there is massive discrepancy in distribution of compensation money. Rich and influentials have managed to get more compensation than the ordinary citizens. The amount of compensation paid to them is higher in comparison to others. It clearly shows that there is nexus among rich people and officials of the district administration.
The corrupt practices of district administration have robed poor people the opportunity to get paid for losing their valuable land. Further it has been alleged that some of the people who have been paid compensation do not own any property along the proposed highway. If true, this is a serious crime and officials involved in such criminal act has to be strongly punished. The state government should order CBI probe into the allegation of corruption in distribution of compensation under TAH in Lower Subansiri district. The case merits CBI probe as it involves high profile people, who can sabotage the investigation carried out by the local agencies.
