BOLUNG, Jun 21: The National Bank for Agriculture & Rural Development (NABARD) organizeda meet with Bolung Farmers Club here in Lower Dibang Valley district recently.
Duringthe programme, NABARD District Development Manager Nitya Mili advised all the members of the club to work together, and apply appropriate technology with the help of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) and find solutions to the problems faced by them.
He informed that the NABARD supports active and vibrant farmers clubs for exposure visits; provides training through experts, and encourages progressive farming methods.
Mili also advocated for scientific method of cultivation of crops to get higher yield, and gave details on all state and central sponsored schemes, such as CMKRY, DDUBY, DDUSY, DEDS, NLM and KCC.
SMS (Horti) VK Pandey explained about the prospects of various agri-horti crops grown in the region. He also emphasized on value addition of the crops for better returns.
Spices Board Senior Field Officer Jyothish Kurged the members to opt for organic farming and encouraged them to cultivate crops which are driven by market demand. He also assured of necessary assistance by the Spices Board in the coming days.
KVK SMS (Plant Protection) Toktel Boko elaborated on various plant protection methods and explained about numerous crop diseases that are prone to the area. She also gave necessary remedial measures to check the spread of diseases.
The Bolung Farmers Club has been promoted by the KVK of Roing and sponsored by the NABARD.
