ITANAGAR, Jun 26: Governor BD Mishra has exhorted the NCC cadets to imbibe leadership quality, sprit of nationalism and ideals of selfless service.
Attending the prize distribution ceremony of the combined (for the cadets of Arunachal Pradesh and Assam) annual training camp of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) at Dera Natung College, here on Tuesday, the governor said, “There is a need for the NCC cadets to build up strong nationalism, while developing strong moral character, comradeship, discipline, secular outlook and spirit of adventure.”
The governor further stressed that the NCC is required to counter the divisive forces as the second line of defence. He advised the cadets to guide, motivate and encourage other youth to be part of NCC, the disciplined organization.
He was also impressed by the turnout, cultural programme and the Guard of Honour presented to him.
Cadet Nipia Kipa of Government Higher Secondary School, Doimukh was the commander of the Guard of Honour. As a token of appreciation, the governor gave a cash award for ‘Bara Khana’ to the cadets and another cash award to Cadet Chimpy Boruah of North Lakhimpur College, Assam for a meritorious girl cadet and ‘Best in Firing’ amongst girl cadets.
Government Higher Secondary School, Doimukh, Arunachal Pradesh received the Best Institute Award and Cadet Parnita Saikia of Shankar Dev College, Assam received the Best Cadet award.
Cadet Gyamar Jhon of Government Higher Secondary School, Doimukh received the award for Best Turn Out. Cadet Chimpy Boruah of North Lakhimpur College, Assam and Cadet Parnita Saikia of Shankar Dev College, Assam received the first and second prizes respectively in drill of girls’ section, Gyamar Jhon and Cadet Tony Kumar Saikia, Darrang College, Assam received the prizes in boy’s section.
In firing, Cadet Pranjal Modal of Darrang College, Assam and Cadet Kristoper Dhela of Government Higher Secondary School, Doimukh received the first and second prizes respectively in boy’s section, while Cadet Chimpy Boruah of North Lakhimpur College, Assam and Cadet Torik Kaye of Jawaharlal Nehru College, Pasighat received the first and second prizes respectively in girl’s section.
In all, 410 cadets from 1 Arunachal Pradesh Battalion NCC, Naharlagun and NCC Group Headquarters (B), Tezpur, Assam participated in the 10-day combined annual training camp.
The governor’s wife, Neelam Misra, Lt Col NK Bishnoi, SM, Commanding Officer, 1 Arunachal Pradesh Bn NCC, Lt Col Anuj Awasthi, Commanding Officer, 72 Assam Girls NCC, North Lakhimpur, Assam, Principal, Dera Natung Government College, Itanagar Dr NT Rikam, NCC teachers of various schools and colleges of Arunachal Pradesh and Assam, and instructors from the Army were present on the occasion.
