ITANAGAR, Jun 26: Parliamentary Secretary (Economics & Statistics) Kumsi Sidisow said that he will take up the matter of shifting the Directorate of Census Operation (DCO), Arunachal Pradesh from Shillong, Meghalaya to Itanagar with the higher authorities for consideration.
A memorandum in this regard was submitted to the Parliamentary Secretary by the Arunachal Pradesh Economics & Statistics Personnel Welfare Association (APESWPA), when the former attended the inauguration day of the three-day Regional Training Camp (RTC) of 76th National Sample Survey (NSS) at the Directorate of Economics & Statistics, here on Tuesday.
He appreciated the efforts of the department in carrying out their business despite acute shortage of manpower.
Secretary, Economics & Statistics Mimum Tayeng explained the importance of NSS data, which is being used by the central government for formulating policies of various welfare schemes.
She advised the DSO and field staffers to take up the NSS survey in a mission mode, which is of utmost importance in policy or decision making.
Economics & Statistics Director B Megu urged all the DSOs and field staff to complete the survey within the time frame set by the Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation without compromising the quality of data.
He cautioned the officers and officials that underperformance may lead to delay in release of fund by the central ministry.
Central observer Jagat Hazarika, Joint Director, ISS, and NSS (NEZ) Guwahati highlighted the subject area of 76m Round ‘Drinking Water, Sanitation, Hygiene, Housing condition and Persons with Disabilities’.
