Community awareness progs organized to mark anti-Malaria month

PASIGHAT, Jun 27: The health department in East Siang district has been organizing awareness programme as part of the Anti-Malaria month with the theme : “Ready to Fight Malaria” in low-lying malaria endemic areas of the district.
Recently, the health department under its District Vector Borne Diseases Control Programme (DVBDC) has organized a series of rally and public meeting on malaria disease in Borguli-Kiyit under Mebo and Ngorlung under Ruksin subdivisions to mark the Anti-Malaria Month.
Speaking on the occasion, East Siang district DVBDCPO Dr. K Lego urged the community members to take all steps for prevention of mosquito breeding during rainy season. He called upon the students, ASHAs, Anganwadi workers and community members to spread the message on the malaria preventive measures in their respective villages and homes.
“We must work together for complete eradication of malaria,” Dr, Lego stressed.
Headmaster of Kiyit Govt. Secondary School, O. Lego also gave emphasis on malaria preventive measures and assured all support in awareness campaign on malaria.
School Management Committee chairman, L. Pertin called for regular cleanliness drive under Swachha Bharat Abhiyan to combat malaria during rainy season.
