ITANAGAR, Jul 4: Capital Complex administration will set up a ‘Quick Response Team’ for disaster management during the monsoon.
The response team, which will function under the Capital superintendent of police, will plunge into action as soon as there is in alert for any natural calamity or emergency situation, said Capital Complex Deputy Commissioner Prince Dhawan.
The deputy commissioner on Wednesday reviewed the disaster preparedness in the capital. A meeting to review monsoon preparedness was held in the chamber of the deputy commissioner with the SP (Capital) N Harsha Vardhan, DDMO Moromi Dodum Sonam and engineers of various departments and representatives from TK Engineering and Consortium Pvt Ltd.
The deputy commissioner directed the DDMO to hand over all the required search and rescue equipment to the PCRs that will carry the quick response teams.
The DC called on all the officers to work in coordination, especially in view of monsoon season, which requires collaborative efforts to tackle any situation.
“If we all work as a team, we can withstand any disaster”, he said.
Informing that anybody can dial the toll free number ‘1077’ to seek help in case of any emergency, he asked the Capital SP to direct all the control rooms of Itanagar, Naharlagun and Banderdewa, to respond and act on the calls of the DDMO during any such emergency.
