Lohit Libraries felicitates reader-activists

TEZU, Jul 6: The Lohit Libraries on Friday gave away its Bhajan Award to reader-activists Kishalu Kri and Besunlu Mepong “for their contribution towards spreading the joy of reading in Lohit region over the last six years.”
Both Kri and Mepong are Class 12 students of the government higher secondary school here.
The award was instituted in 2014 by a patron from Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, in memory of his parents, and carries Rs 9000 in cash, along with a merit certificate and books.
Government school teacher Rejum Potom and Prem Pradhan, caretaker of Ming Woods, Tezu, earlier this year won the Sister Nivedita Award for “dedicated library services.” Dedicated to the renowned nationalist and educationist, Sister Nivedita, the award is sponsored by a library patron from Pune and carries Rs 5000, a merit certificate and books.
Eco-activist Silotmai Dellang of Wakro was awarded the Ranganatha Award for meritorious library services to the community, while prizes for youth volunteers, reader-activists, budding writers, and artists were also declared by the Library Network at different unit libraries.
