DOIMUKH, Jul 23: Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Doimukh will meet GHSS Balijan in the final of the district level U-17 boys’ Subroto Cup football tournament for Papum Pare district at Rono Ground here on Tuesday.
The Balijan school team entered into the final, beating BK Mission 2-1 in the first semifinal. Doimukh defeated Toru GSS 3-0 in the second semifinal. Both the semifinals were played on Monday, a release from the office of the DDSE informed.
In Khonsa, Govt Town Secondary School Khonsa and Govt Secondary School Dadam became the winners in the boys’ and girls’ category, respectively, of the district level Subroto Cup for Tirap, and will represent the district at the state level tournament.
The boys’ team of GTSS Khonsa won the tournament, defeating the Government Secondary School Dadam in the final.
In the girls’ category, GSS Dadam defeated GHSS Khonsa in the final.
Both the finals were played at Nehru Stadium in Khonsa on Monday.
Ngoni Namet of GSS Pinewood and Wangkih Kamhoa of GSS Dadam won the individual prizes for best goalkeepers in girls’ and boys’ section, respectively.
The prizes for the highest scorers in girls’ and boys’ categories went to Chumtu Noksok of GSS Pinewood and Tinglen Wangsu of GTSS Khonsa, respectively.
Chakat Aboh, wife of Khonsa West MLA Tirong Aboh, and SP Jitendra Kumar Meena gave away the prizes to the winner and runner-up teams and individual prize winners. (With input from DIPRO)
