GANGA, Sep 30: The Papum Pare district non-communicable diseases (NCD) cell celebrated World Heart Day with the rest of the world at the government higher secondary school in Ganga village on Sunday. The theme of this year’s celebration was ‘My heart, your heart’.
DMO Dr Subu Tasso Kampu encouraged the students to lead an active life to prevent heart diseases, while cardiologist Dr Rinchin Dorjee Megeji from RKM Hospital gave a PowerPoint presentation on CVDs, and NDC specialist Dr Radhe Natung from the TRIHMS highlighted the importance of World Heart Day celebration and its theme.
Psychologist Alisha Meitei gave a presentation on the ill effects of tobacco consumption.
The students and faculty members also took an oath to lead a tobacco-free lifestyle. The event was followed by a screening of faculty members of the school for NCDs.
