Walk the talk

The MeTo movement has caught India by storm. Prominent personalities from film industry, media, politics etc have been named as sexual harasser by the women. The minister of state for external affairs MJ Akbar, who is a former editor, has been named by several women journalists as sexual predator. Bollywood personalities like Nana Patekar, Alok Nath, Sajid Khan, Vikash Bahl has also been alleged of sexually harassing the women. Despite several complaints, so far, no actions have been initiated against any of the offenders. Infact minister MJ Akbar is still in foreign shore on official duty and is yet to respond to the allegation.
The government of India should immediately sack Mr Akbar and initiate probe against him. Prime Minister Narendra Modi talks of Beti Bacho Beti Padhao but is reluctant to dismiss him even after many women have named him. This exposes the tall claim of PM. This whole movement started with actress Tanushree Dutta alleging actor Nana Patekar of sexually harassing her in the past. Since then she has lodged formal police complaint against Patekar. Tanushree, who is a former Miss India has truly behaved like Miss India and has shown path to other women to fight against sexual molesters. This is a defining movement for India. Taking this opportunity, the government of India should frame a proper policy to deal with sexual molestation case at work place. Whatever that has come out is just tip of iceberg. There must be several such cases in other industries too. Therefore the need of the hour is a proper policy to strictly deal with such case. Hopefully the govt of India will walk the talk and take some initiative in this regard.
