ITANAGAR, Nov 13: The Arunachal Pradesh Women Welfare Society (APWWS) has strongly condemned the magistrate’s ordering a lathi-charge on APPSCCE aspirants who were protesting outside the Kingcup Public School exam centre here last Saturday.
“The protesting candidates were not criminals, and the authorities could have handled the situation in a proper way,” the APWWS stated in a press release on Tuesday.
It said the APPSC, “being a statutory and independent body,” could have prevented the chaos if it had taken a sensible decision and made proper arrangements.
Accusing the commission of being ineffective, the APWWS said, “The careers of thousands of students are at stake due this ongoing tussle. Such incident is unfortunate and has broken the spirit of all the aspirant candidates.”
It said it felt “the pain of all those children who are fighting in the court, protesters and candidates who are appearing the exam.”
The APWWS appealed to the state government to “take a proper decision which will not jeopardize the careers of thousands of aspirants as well as maintain the reputation and sanctity of the APPSC.”
