NAHARLAGUN, Dec 15: Enforcement officers of the legal metrology department participated in a seminar-cum-workshop on ‘legal metrology laws’ in the department’s conference hall here on Friday.
During the seminar, Ranchi (Jharkhand)-based Indian Institute of Legal Metrology’s (IILM) Director Rajeshwar Kumar made a PowerPoint presentation and cleared the doubts of the participants. He advised the department’s senior officers to take short-term special courses at the IILM to update their knowledge.
Kumar also advised the metrology department to gear up its enforcement activities, saying it is one of the criteria in the process of awarding ISO certification.
Guwahati (Assam)-based Regional Reference Standard Laboratory’s Deputy Director MK Naik presented a brief on verification and maintenance of the secondary standard laboratory of the department, and emphasized on accreditation of the laboratory, “so as to generate confidence of both consumers and commercial establishments.”
ACLM Taba Tabing made a PowerPoint presentation on the awareness programmes being organized regularly for the state’s consumers.
Earlier, Legal Metrology & Consumer Affairs (LMCA) Controller Hoktum Ori advised the participants to gain maximum knowledge from the resource persons of the programme.
LMCA Assistant Controller (Aalo) Jomba Kamgo Lobom and Pasighat LMCA Inspector Lupha Sikhet were felicitated with certificates of appreciation and mementoes for their achievements in revenue generation from 2015-’16 to 2017-’18.
The seminar was followed by a ‘field visit training programme’ on Saturday.
