ITANAGAR, Dec 16: Seppa West MLA Mama Natung unveiled the bust of former minister late Dera Natung in front of the library building of Dera Natung Government College (DNGC) here on Saturday in the presence of a host of alumni, faculty members and students of the college.
Enumerating the contributions of late Natung, DNGC principal Dr NT Rikam recalled the former education minister as a great leader, thinker and social worker.
“While he revamped education as a whole, he was instrumental in the development and transformation of this college, and thus it was quite befitting to have named this college after him,” Dr Rikam said.
He also urged the college’s alumni association to be “proactive and vibrant in contributing to the growth and development of the college.”
The MLA in his address announced that he would get government approval for an endowment lecture series in memory of late Dera Natung at the earliest, and that he would take initiative to have fund sanctioned to upgrade the college’s infrastructure.
