SEPPA, Dec 18: The women & child development department in collaboration with the East Kameng district administration launched the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (B3P) Abhiyan in the district at a function here on Tuesday.
The launch ceremony coincided with the celebration of ‘Beti Janm Mahotsav,’ an initiative of DC Gaurav Singh Rajawat to celebrate the birth of every girl child in the district during the month of October 2018.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC urged every stakeholder to shoulder their responsibility to achieve the targets under the abhiyan.
Rajawat also briefed the gathering on the ‘I Love Seppa’ campaign, and appealed to the people to create awareness on the campaign along with the B3P Abhiyan “to bring positive changes in the mindset of the people towards holistic development of the district.”
ICDS DD W Thungon requested the stakeholders to “go the extra mile for successful implementation of various programmes under the abhiyan.”
CO Pooza Sonam Natung and CDPO Khoda Tapa also spoke.
Earlier, all the mothers present at the programme were enrolled under the CMAAY and handed over birth, ST and PR certificates and Aadhaar cards, along with gift baskets for babies. All the birthday baby girls present were administered immunization on the spot.
Aroni Brah, Papi Bagang and Apung Tawe were declared the first, second and third best ASHA, respectively, and were awarded cash and certificates of appreciation.
A host of government officers, including DRDA PD Dahey Sangno, and representatives of the EKSWCO, the WWO, the Mothers’ Group, Changtam Ane, the market welfare society, the chamber of commerce, and the district students’ union attended the programme. (DIPRO)
