KHONSA, Jan 23: The Indian Army said that “the people of Tirap and Longding districts are petrified because of insurgency in the area and want to live a peaceful life.”
“The keen interest shown by the youth to join the security forces reflects that the people are petrified because of insurgency in the area, and they want to live a peaceful life,” said the Khonsa Battalion of Assam Rifles in a release.
The Khonsa Battalion of Assam Rifles on 21 January organized a lecture on counter-insurgency at Chop village in Longding district to gain the support of the locals and raise awareness among them against insurgency.
“The effort was highly appreciated by the locals,” the release said.
Earlier on 21 January, the Khonsa Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of DAO Division inaugurated a toilet block built separately for both men and women at Chop village.
The project was conceptualized and completed by Khonsa Battalion of Assam Rifles under its Civic Action Project for the financial year 2018-19. (DIPRO)
