AALO, Feb 10: Six hundred polling personnel of West Siang district underwent the first round of election training at Aalo Club here on 9 February.
Speaking on handling the electronic voting machines (EVM) and the voter verifiable paper audit trail (VVPAT), Basar ADC Hento Karga said, “Over the years, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has made the voting process easier and electronic-driven, and sensible handling of the latest equipment holds the key to successful elections.”
ERO C Chukhu informed that the ECI has banned all kinds of leave of absence for government officials. He said those who are requisitioned for election duties “are on national duty and directly related to the ECI.”
He also presented visuals on EVM and VVPAT.
DFDO Kenbom Chisi, AERO A Ratan and CDPO Bahi Koyu presented briefs on polling parties and polling day arrangements, the model code of conduct, IT application Sugam Samadhan and election planning and security, and provided hands-on training on EVM and VVPAT.
In Tirap district, the second phase election of training for the government employees of the district who have been drawn for election duties was held at Khonsa on Sunday.
The participants were imparted hands-on training on handling of VVPAT, EVM, control unit, voting procedure, etc, by master trainer Henrik Basar.
ERO Hakresha Kri advised the employees entrusted as presiding/polling officers to take proper care of the election materials, including VVPAT, EVM and the control unit during the day of election. (DIPROs)
