ITANAGAR, Feb 26: Home Minister (HM) Kumar Waii on Tuesday said he had not issued orders for firing at “any kind of movement or agitation” during the anti-PRC protests in the capital complex region.
“In fact, I was unaware of the additional requisition (of security forces) demanded for the capital during the anti-PRC movement,” Waii said, adding that he had suggested to the chief minister to hold an all-party meeting or a cabinet meeting at the earliest.
The home minister said he was himself unable to attend the all-party meet as he was not intimated about it.
Extending condolences to the families of those who were killed in police firing, Waii appealed to the public and the organisations to maintain peace and tranquility.
He said efforts are being made to restore basic public services, including restoration of the communication system, including telecom, internet and transportation.
He said he has visited a few locations in the capital to assess the damages but has been unable to visit Naharlagun.
